About Me

MichelleMy husband and I met eleven years ago and have been married for nine years. Together we have three wonderful children. Our first daughter was born at Bloomington Hospital, and we have a son and another daughter who were born at home attended by a midwife and her apprentice. At one of those births, I also had a wonderful doula-in-training.

My births attended by midwives and doula were, simply put, amazing. The knowledgeable care and nurturing I received made my pregnancies and birth experiences wonderful for not only my husband and I, but our other children. Since 2003, I have felt called to offer the same advocacy, knowledge and empowerment to other women during their childbearing year. I have been honored to attend hospital births, homebirths, waterbirths, and VBAC/HBACs. It is such an amazing time in a mother and father's lives, and should be recognized as such!

My training includes:

  • Assisting a Midwife workshop (9/2006)
  • Doula or birth assistant at over 35 births (2007-2008)
  • Placentas, Placentas, Placentas! workshop (1/2007)
  • CPR/AED Certified (American Red Cross) (4/2008)
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Certified (AHA and AAP) (9/2008)
  • Pelvic Balance for Easier and Safer Births, with Jeanne Ohm, D.C. (11/2008)

I am a student with Ancient Art Midwifery Institute, planning to complete my studies by 2011, and I continue to pursue other educational opportunities and experiences.

You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it.
